Liga MX side Club Puebla has fallen on some difficult times. They’re second to last in the table and have lost five straight games.

But they’re doing something unusual to try and break that losing streak: They’re promising fans free beer if they lose their next match.

The tweet, translated by ESPN, reads: “If we don't win on Thursday, you get a free beer in the match against @AtletideSanLuis!”

The team plays Juarez on Thursday, and fans will get free beer during Puebla’s next home game if they lose. That game is on September 13.

It’s been a tough season for Club Puebla fans. Their team has yet to win in five games, and they recently suffered a 4-0 home loss against Pachuca.

The only bright spot is that they’ve drawn twice and aren’t dead last. Club Puebla obviously hopes that a daring promotion (and their new coach, Juan Reynoso) will help turn things around.

And if things don’t turn around, at least the fans will have the comfort of free beer while they watch their favorite soccer team lose. But even that might not be all it’s cracked up to be.

There have been several scandals involving stadium vendors watering down beer during games in 2019, and the most recent one broke just a week ago. If Puebla doesn’t win their next game, fans should at least have full-strength beer. Don’t they deserve that?
