Life is hard. So dang hard sometimes.
You know what I mean, right? Your well-being and the well-being of those you love and care for feel at risk daily and with each decision you make. That can be exhausting and at times debilitating.
But you and me?
Because you’re likely reading this column on a computer or a smart phone and because I’m writing it from my downtown office, we really don’t even know the start of it. What if that decision was between paying for food to eat or keeping the heat and lights on? What if that food or lights-on decision is being made as medical bills mount and bankruptcy looms? What if you couldn’t secure dependable child care, dependable transportation, dependable anything and seemingly everything.
Season for Sharing: You Yes You! Project connects children with their incarcerated fathers
That’s hard. That’s debilitating. That’s exhausting.
Yeah, we don’t even know the start of it.
But you and me? We could be a part of the end of it for many families across Indianapolis.
So, I need your help.
IndyStar is kicking off its annual Season for Sharing campaign so we — with readers like you — can help alleviate some of the daily pain experienced by too many familiesacross Central Indiana. The fundraising period begins Thanksgiving and ends Dec. 31.
The mission of the annual Season for Sharing campaign now under IndyStar’s Our Children initiative is to harness the power of journalism and our reach as a newsroom to make a difference for Central Indiana’s youth. Since 1994, together we have raised more than $2 million.
This year, grants will be awarded to organizations that have gone above and beyond in serving Central Indiana children and families amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of the generosity of people like you, we raised $110,000 in 2019 to support early childhood education providers and more than $115,000 in 2020 to support Black and brown youth and families.
Please donate. The Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust will generously match donations up to $25,000.
Help make Indianapolis a better place for all. Help us change lives with a tax-deductible contribution.
Let’s do this together.
