Liberty man accused of setting bar on fire while people were still inside
A village of Liberty man is facing several felony charges, including arson, after village police said he set fire to a bar Tuesday night while patrons were inside.
Police said they responded to a report of a structure fire at the Liberty Pub Bar on Edgar Street shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said a preliminary investigation of the fire scene indicated the blaze had been started intentionally.

An investigation by village police and arson investigators from the Sullivan County Bureau of Fire led to the arrest of Mateo Rodriguez, whose age was not made available.
Police said it is alleged that at approximately 10 p.m., Rodriguez set fire to a container of gasoline under the rear porch of the Liberty Pub Bar, at a time when he knew there were people inside the building.
Rodriguez was charged with second-degree arson, first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree criminal mischief, all felonies.
Court information was not immediately available.
