Letter: Cheat to win

I am an old person and worried that extremists are taking over our country. Extremists don’t care about democracy, they only care about their agendas and staying in power. If you are wondering if this is bad, get online and look at Iran in 1960 and then look at Iran today. These extremists won’t take 60 years.

Case in point, look at abortion and contraception, extremists like their women old school, you know, bare foot, pregnant, in the kitchen where they belong. Speaking of women, voting rights need to be changed before the next election. Extremists hate voting, too risky. Voting is a right, but politicians say what that right is and some of these rights have already been reduced or have made it harder to vote. Gerrymandering has worked OK, but they needed more. Texas has made it harder to get a mail-in ballot. Historically 1%, were disallowed, last election it was 13%, this time maybe 50%. Texas reduced the number of voting dropoff boxes to one per county. Electoral College votes are “Winner Take All." Back in 1776, only the Founding Fathers and old rich white guys got to vote. Extremists probably consider that the Good Old Days.

I am a liberal, but I don’t care how you vote. I only care that every Texan, every American cast their vote and they are counted just the same as mine, that’s democracy.
