'Les Miserables' to sing at Palm Canyon Theatre

"Les Misérables," the eight-time Tony Award-winning Broadway hit, will once again scale the barricades at Palm Canyon Theatre.

"Les Misérables," tells the story of Jean Valjean (Paul Grant) and his struggles to overcome the sins of his past in 19th century France. Based upon Victor Hugo’s epic novel, "Les Misérables" deals with broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice, and redemption against the backdrop of revolution. A timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. This epic and uplifting story has become one of the most celebrated musicals in theater history. The magnificent score includes the songs “I Dreamed a Dream” “On My Own,” “Bring Him Home,” “One Day More”, "Empty Chairs, Empty Tables” and many more.

The original Broadway production ran 6,800 performances and sits as Broadway's sixth longest-running show. The show took home Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Direction, Best Score, and Best Book among others. The 2013 film adaptation became a major hit and is currently the seventh highest-grossing movie musical of all time.

Along with Grant, the cast includes Eric Stein-Steele as Javert, Laurie Holmes as Fantine, Christian Quevedo as Marius, Ana Rangel as Cossette, Ben Reece as Enjorals, Keith Alexander as Thenardier, Jana Giboney as Madame Thenardier, Sadie Keskey as Young Cosette, and Everett Nickolopoulous as Gavroche.

The production is directed and choreographed by Se Layne, with musical direction by Steven Smith, sets/lighting design by J.W. Layne, and costume design by Derik Shopinski.
