Here are the latest election results for Kentucky State House, Senate races

Though several legislative races for the Kentucky statehouse feature uncontested primaries, a handful of Central Kentucky contests this Tuesday could tell us more about the state of the Kentucky GOP as well as help shape Lexington’s Frankfort delegation.

A few GOP primaries in the Greater Lexington area serve as tests for the strength of the “Liberty” wing of the party that focuses more on constitutional freedoms and is more leery of big business. Sen. Donald Douglas’, R-Nicholasville, challenge against Andrew Cooperrider is the most expensive Senate primary in the state, and Rep. Kim King’s contest against Tony Wheatley is another that’s seen by some as an “establishment incumbent vs. an outsider” contest.

A four-way GOP primary race in a district that stretches from Frankfort to the suburbs of Northern Kentucky has also drawn some interest, as the district is completely new.

Democratic primaries in Lexington include Chad Aull, who has raised the second-most of any House candidate and received the endorsement of several Lexington Democrats in Frankfort, against Justin Bramhall; they’re competing for a seat previously held by retiring Rep. Susan Westrom. Lindsey Burke is running against Chris Couch — who postponed his campaign after being arrested for an alleged domestic violence incident but didn’t take his name off the ballot — for a seat being made vacant by the retiring Rep. Kelly Flood.
