Lakers to convert Austin Reaves’ two-way contract to standard NBA deal

On Sunday, it was reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic that the Los Angeles Lakers will convert the contract of rookie Austin Reaves to a standard NBA deal.
Reaves, who went undrafted out of Oklahoma, signed a two-way contract with the Lakers last month after a solid showing in the Las Vegas Summer League. He averaged 7.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists in five games on 32.8% shooting from the field.
The 23-year-old averaged 18.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.6 assists in 25 games with the Sooners last season, earning All-Big 12 first-team honors. He led the conference in free throws made (147) and ranked fifth in true shooting percentage (.579).

The contract upgrade will ensure Reaves claims one of 15 roster spots heading into the season. The organization certainly believes in his ability and will look to develop him this season as the opportunity to learn from LeBron James & Co. should only help his growth.
