Lake County Sheriff's Office investigating I-90 road rage incident

Nov. 29—The Lake County Sheriff's Office responded to the area of Interstate 90 near state Route 44 at approximately 5:40 p.m. on Nov. 28 for a report of a vehicle that had been shot at by a motorist from another vehicle.

According to a post on the department's Facebook page, upon arrival, investigation revealed that the complainant was traveling west on I-90 near the 202 mile marker in a 2014 Nissan Titan pickup.

This vehicle was traveling in the left lane and pulled up behind a silver Subaru also in the left lane. The Subaru was reportedly traveling slowly and the driver of the pickup truck passed the Subaru using the right lane after the driver of the Subaru slammed on its brakes several times, according to the Facebook post.

According to the post, the Subaru then entered the right lane as the Nissan got into the left lane, both continuing west. According to the driver of the pickup truck, words and gestures were exchanged between the front seat passenger of the pickup and the driver of the suspect vehicle, which was when the driver of the Subaru discharged an unknown firearm at the pickup truck, striking the right front fender above the wheel well.

The suspect vehicle reportedly continued west on I-90 while the driver of the pickup exited at Route 44 and called 911. Neither of the two adults or two children in the pickup were injured.
