The Dallas Mavericks pulled a major surprise on Sunday when they reportedly traded for Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving.
The Mavericks gave up a lot for Irving: The Nets get Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith and a package of draft picks, according to many NBA media members, including The Associated Press. Dallas also gets Markieff Morris.
ESPN (and The Athletic and others) were out of the gate with the news quickly.

The response from across social media was quite interesting.
LeBron James looked in the mirror when the news broke.

Actually, LeBron, it was likely because the Nets wanted too much from the Lakers.
The Brooklyn Nets wanted Russell Westbrook, Austin Reaves, Max Christie, two first-round picks and pick swaps from the Lakers in exchange for Kyrie Irving, per @ShamsCharania.

Unless, you believe this one, which means the Lakers were not going to get him.

The Suns were interested, too, but Chris Paul III is staying in Phoenix

And there’s at least one report that says Irving’s excited to get to Dallas.
Kyrie Irving is said to be “ecstatic” about the trade to Dallas Mavericks and “looking forward” to joining forces with Luka Dončić, a league source tells @NBAonTNT, @BleacherReport.

Some fans are not happy. After all, Irving has had trouble in other markets ... with teammates, ownership, fans ...
I’m going on the record to say that the Kyrie Irving trade is wrong. Dallas is conservative market. We don’t put up with bullshit.
