Kristen Stewart feels "protective" over Princess Diana, ahead of playing her in new film

Kristen Stewart has opened up about playing Princess Diana in upcoming film Spencer, saying the role has made her feel "protective" over the late Princess.
Yep, in case we didn't have enough Princess Diana biopic content in our lives (erm, never) thanks to The Crown, there's plenty more on the way, with Kristen set to play the lead role in new movie Spencer, which starts filming next year.
Written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, Spencer will take place over a critical weekend in the early ‘90s when Diana decides her marriage to Prince Charles isn't working.
The film isn't set to start shooting until early 2021, but Kristen has already started preparing for the role, saying she feels a connection to the Princess.
Speaking to Jimmy Kimmel, Kristen explained that while she didn't grow up with Princess Diana, who died when Kristen was just seven years old, she still feels a connection to her.
Reflecting on Princess Diana's death, Kristen said, "I was really young, [I] didn't know what was going on," but added that it's hard "not to feel protective of her". "She was so young," Kristen continued.
The actress went on to open up about how she'll approach the huge role of playing Princess Diana, saying, "I mean, everyone's perspective is different and there's no way to get anything right, because what is fact in relation to personal experience?"
Revealing more about the film, Kristen said, "My movie takes place over three days, and it's this really poetic internal imagining of what that might have felt like rather than giving new information."
"We kind of don't have a mark to hit. We just also love her."
It's not known yet when Spencer will be released, but we can't wait to see a whole new take on Diana's life. 'Til then, guess we'll head back to The Crown?
