Kline Twp. Municipal Authority ends boil water advisory

Feb. 27—A boil water advisory for customers of Kline Twp. Municipal Authority has been halted.

The advisory began Tuesday for the entire system due to leaks that caused a loss of pressure. Customers in McAdoo, Kline Twp., Tresckow, Audenried and Beaver Brook were asked to boil water until further notice.

That notice went into effect Friday at noon.

Aaron DeBalko, general manager, said the authority needed two consecutive weekdays of acceptable water samples before the advisory is lifted as per regulations.

One leak was found on Hancock and Adams streets this week but the authority has been working steadily on leaks for the past 30 days, DeBalko said. There were seven water main breaks in addition to houses with pipes that froze. About half of the problems occurred in unoccupied homes, he said.

DeBalko said earlier this week that authority workers suspect there are other leaks in the system as water pressure is still an issue. Anyone who sees a large amount of water coming from the ground or a house is asked to call the authority at 570-929-3177.

Water leaks are typical for winter weather, but most of the time they occur during a warm-up.
