Kevin O'Leary thinks people should work while they're on vacation

One-time Canadian prime ministerial hopeful Kevin O’Leary says he “100 per cent” expects his employees to respond to him while they’re on vacation.

“I don’t have a division anymore between vacation time and work. It’s always both.”

In a CNBC video, the Shark Tank panelist and former Dragons’ Den cast member explains that he has very flexible rules on whether employees within his organization work remotely or even if they keep regular hours, he “just (wants) you to get the task done that we agreed you’re going to do.”

“How you get it done is your business.”

O’Leary famously built his own studio at his property in Muskoka from which he can make satellite television appearances.

“I can do the hit, walk out and get on my boat,” O’Leary told the Wall Street Journal in 2016.

So Mr. Wonderful isn’t exactly Mr. Everyman.

Still, he insists he works every day.

“Every day is a vacation for me. I just happen to work all day long,” he said. “Because I like to work!”

Perhaps O’Leary could read up on the many health benefits of taking a vacation, which include reducing stress and improving mental health.
