The Haas Formula 1 team announced today both of its drivers—Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen—will be leaving their positions at the end of the 2020 season. It's not clear at this time who will be replacing them for 2021.

Grosjean has been on the team since it was founded in 2016, scoring a best position of fourth at the 2018 Austrian Grand Prix. Magnussen joined the team in 2017, replacing Esteban Gutierrez. His highest scoring position with the team? Fifth, once in Bahrain, and then again in Austria, both in 2018.

The team has struggled to produce results in recent years, finishing ninth in the constructors championship in 2019, and holding the same position in the current 2020 season, with just two points finishes to the team's name so far.

"The last chapter is closed and the book is finished," Grosjean said in a statement. "I've been with Haas F1 Team since day one. Five years during which we went through highs and lows, scored 110 points in 92 races, but the journey was worth it."

"I've learned a lot, improved to be a better driver as well as a better man. I hope I’ve also helped people in the team to improve themselves. This is probably my biggest pride, more than any of the crazy first races in 2016 or the P4 at the Austrian Grand Prix 2018. I wish the team all the best for the future."

It's unclear at this time where Grosjean is headed, but a recent simulator test with the Mahindra Formula E team suggests he could go to the all-electric series for 2021.

"The 2020 season will be my last with Haas F1 Team," Magnussen said in a statement. "I have had a great time with the team for four years and I look back at a great journey. Being part of a brand new team has been a challenge that I have thoroughly enjoyed and it has brought me a huge amount of experience that has helped me grow and develop as a racing driver."

The team has not made a decision on who will replace the two drivers, according to team principal Gunther Steiner. Veterans Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg are still without drives for next year, and there are a wealth of rookies with potential that Haas has access to. We'll just have to wait and see how things play out.
