This Kennebunkport Hotel Is Offering the Ultimate Maine Lobster-Themed Suite
If you made a Venn diagram that had "People Who Love Maine Lobster" in one circle, and "People Who Love to Travel" in the other, there would probably be a significant amount of overlap. That's exactly the group that the Maine Lobster Marketing Collaborative (MLMC) is trying to attract with its newly announced Maine Lobster Suite at the Boathouse Waterfront Hotel in Kennebunkport.

The Lobster Suite is the centerpiece of the MLMC's over-the-top Maine Lobster Experience package, which includes a three-night stay in those signature accommodations (more on the room in a sec), a Blue Lobster Chardonnay and cheese board upon arrival, dinner for two at the Boathouse Restaurant, a "Secret" Blue Lobster room-service menu curated by Chef John Shaw, and two tickets for the Rugosa Lobster Cruise ("The most exclusive, personal, and educational cruise in Kennebunkport," according to its website.)

The Experience also comes with a Lobster Bake from Cape Porpoise Lobster Co., which will be shipped to your home, so you can pretend that you're still in Maine even if you live in a completely landlocked state.

The Lobster Suite itself features what the MLMC describes as "over-the-top lobster-theme decor," and they're not kidding. The room has lobster-shaped pillows on the king-sized bed, custom built lobster trap rocking chairs and end tables, and a pair of Grundéns waterproof fishing bibs in case you want to do a little bit of crustacean-centric cosplay during your stay. There are also two balconies that overlook the Kennebunk River and Dock Square, so you might see a local lobster crew bringing your dinner back to the docks.

Chef Shaw's special Lobster Suite Menu includes everything from Maine Lobster BLT Bao Buns ($16) to a Maine Lobster Grilled Cheese ($26) to a Maine Lobster Flatbread with a Frutti de Mare Bloody Mary ($45). "At The Boathouse, we're situated right on Maine's shoreline, meaning we have quick access to the freshest sustainably-harvested lobster year round," Shaw said. "For this curated menu, my inspiration was two-fold, drawing ideas from both my culinary training in Asia, as well as American room service classics—all with an upscale twist you could only bring by using the sweetest lobster on earth."
