Keith Mayer: Car with gunshot victim crashes into other vehicles in Wyomissing

Jan. 22—A car carrying a gunshot victim crashed into other vehicles in Wyomissing late Friday, according to emergency reports.

The gunshot victim and two occupants of vehicles were transported to Reading Hospital.

Police and ambulance crews were originally sent to the first block of East Penn Avenue in Wernersville shortly after 10:30 p.m. for a male with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to reports.

While en route, crews learned that a vehicle left that scene and was headed east on Penn Avenue at a high rate of speed, four-way flashers on and running red lights, according to reports.

Police attempted to follow but broke off due to the high speeds, according to reports.

Moments later, a crash involving multiple vehicles was reported on Penn at State Hill Road and Wyomissing Boulevard.

Police and ambulances converged on that spot and three were transported.

An investigation was set up in Wernersville.
