Katy Perry urges China to 'keep fighting' amid coronavirus outbreak
Pop star Katy Perry has recorded a message of support for China amid the outbreak of the coronavirus.
The Roar singer – who was recently named an ambassador for the British Asian Trust by Prince Charles – taped a video in which she urged the country to “keep fighting” and to “stay healthy and positive”.
It was shared on Twitter by Tedros Ghebreyesus, the director general of the World Health Organisation.

He wrote: “This is a great message of solidarity from @katyperry to the people of #China.
“I couldn't agree more - we're in this together and we can only stop it together! Thank you for lending your voice to such an important cause.”

In the tape, Perry says: “Hi everyone in China, it’s Katy Perry.
“I just wanted to send a message to you to let you know that we are all with you during this time, and to keep fighting, and stay healthy and positive as best as you can.
“We are thinking of you. We are sending our prayers.”
“We are gonna get through this,” she added.
The coronavirus was first detected in the Chinese city of Wuhan earlier this year, but it has now been reported in several other countries too.

So far there have been around 31,000 reported cases in China, and three confirmed cases in the UK.
