Kate Middleton and Prince William's visit to Pakistan is the 'most complex' tour ever
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are kicking off their royal tour of Pakistan on Monday, Oct. 14.
Although details of royal tours and their itineraries are usually shared ahead of their trips, the Cambridge's five-day visit is being kept incredibly private by the palace. The visit ranks as "the most complex tour" undertaken by the couple given the "logistical and security considerations" as they move over 1000 kilometers across the country.
According to reports, over 1,000 Pakistani policemen will be used to ensure the royals' safety in a "ring of steel."
The tour, which comes hot off the heels of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 10-day visit to Africa, will "focus on showcasing Pakistan as it is today – a dynamic, aspirational and forward-looking nation," the palace said in an official statement earlier this month.
Kate and William's trip will include visits to Islamabad, Lahore and "the rugged border regions to the West." The parents of three will also pay particular attention to organizations dedicated to education and the empowerment of young girls, as well as understanding how the country is working to combat climate change.
Duchess Kate and Prince William will be the first royals to visit Pakistan since Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla's turbulent visit in 2006. Queen Elizabeth visited the country in 1961 and in 1997, and Princess Diana underwent a visit in 1991.
