Kate Middleton and Prince William Are Visiting the University Where They First Met 20 Years Ago
As part of Prince William and Kate Middleton's upcoming royal tour of Scotland, they will be paying a visit to a special place that set the stage for their relationship: St. Andrews University. According to Us Weekly, the pair will stop by the college where they first crossed paths 20 years ago. William will start the tour solo in Edinburg this week in his position as Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland (a role appointed to him by Queen Elizabeth). Three days later, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will kick off the rest of the voyage together, beginning at St. Andrews University as a "trip down memory lane" and to connect with students about their schooling experience during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The main goal of their latest royal venture is to also meet with those who are supporting and making meaningful changes in their communities. "Their Royal Highnesses look forward to meeting a wide variety of people across the country, as well as charities and organizations who are doing incredible work on issues such as the environment, mental health, homelessness, and addiction," Kensington Palace said in a statement.
William and Kate also plan to land-yacht on the beach with local caretakers, watch the Scottish Cup Final with emergency responders, and host NHS workers at a drive-in theater for a screening of Disney's Cruella.
The duke specifically is "honored to be fulfilling the role of Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland this year" for this tour, a spokesperson for Kensington Palace said. "Both he and The Duchess are very much looking forward to spending time in Scotland, hearing from a wide range of people on the issues they care about, and celebrating individuals who have gone above and beyond to support their communities over the past year."
