Kanye West Is Reportedly Claiming He and Kim Kardashian Are Back Together

If you're confused about the state of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's divorce, you are most definitely not alone. In fact, membership to that group might even include Kanye himself. Or maybe not. Honestly, it's hard to tell (and, knowing Kanye, that's probably the point).

Kayne and Kim caused a giant mental record scratch for fans last week when they staged a fake wedding ceremony in Solider Field at his Donda listening party in Chicago Thursday. Did this mean that Kim and Kanye were symbolically renewing their vows/calling off their divorce?

Apparently, Kanye fueled reconciliation rumors (or tried to at least), telling some people that he and Kim are, in fact, an item again. According to a Page Six source, however, Kanye's claims were met with pretty much universal skepticism.

"Kanye has been telling other rappers that he and Kim are back together, but everybody knows that isn’t true," the source, described as a "music insider," said. "The real story is that Kanye wants to beat Drake in record sales, and he is putting on a big show of performance art to grab all the media attention."

According to Page Six's music insiders, that drive to beat Drake is what inspired the fake wedding ceremony to begin with. Sources told the out that it was a grand piece of "performance art" meant to help him beat Drake on the sales charts.

As for Kim, her motivation for participating in the stunt was pretty straightforward: to support the father of her children.

"They weren’t talking for months after she filed for divorce, but they began talking again earlier this summer for the sake of their kids," the Page Six source added. "Kim is a nice person–while she and Kanye are not back together–she’s happy to support him in his work and his art, she wants a good relationship with him for the sake of their children."

Unfortunately for Kimye shippers, multiple outlets have been reporting more or less the same thing about Kim's involvement in the faux wedding and the Donda promotional blitz in general.

"They have come a long way since Kim filed for divorce," another source told People. "It's taken them months to get to this point. Kim is happy that they get along and that things are amicable. The kids will always be her number one priority. She wants to have a friendly relationship with Kanye, because it benefits the kids."

The People source also confirmed that Kim has no intention of backtracking on the divorce as of right now.

"Filing for divorce was always the most difficult decision for Kim. She only filed because they had issues that they couldn't solve. She will always love Kanye though," they said. "Right now, she is not calling [the divorce] off though."

Even if Kimye aren't reconciling in a romantic sense, the fact that they've gotten to a point where they can support each other and put on a united front as a family is undeniably great.
