Kandiyohi County Board to consider options for spending remaining American Rescue Plan dollars

Aug. 15—WILLMAR

— The Kandiyohi County Board might be getting closer to earmarking its remaining American Rescue Plan Act funding to various requests from county departments.

At Tuesday's meeting of the board, the commissioners will discuss and possibly consider funding requests from Public Works for essential equipment replacement and project matching dollars; a request to help fund a Child Care Economic Development grant; and a request from the county's Information Systems department to fund cybersecurity upgrades.

The American Rescue Plan Act is an economic stimulus package passed by Congress to speed recovery from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Also on the meeting agenda Tuesday is a nuisance abatement hearing; final payment for the courthouse window replacement project; right-of-way acquisition for the Minnesota Highway 23 South Gap project; a donation of grain bin rescue equipment; and a joint powers agreement for use of state criminal justice tools and data.

The meeting starts at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the board room of the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services building in Willmar.
