Kacey Musgraves bringing Gigi Hadid as her date to the 2019 CMA Awards isn't as random as you think

Kacey Musgraves and Gigi Hadid partnering up for at the 2019 CMA Awards isn't as weird as you might think.

Hadid, who came as Musgraves' date to the awards, stunned on the red carpet by posing for a kiss, adding a new chapter to a friendship that's been brewing for several months.

Last month, Hadid and her sister Bella filmed themselves dancing, vibing and singing along to Musgraves' show at New York's Radio City Music Hall. Gigi is clearly enjoying herself in the video, even rocking some of Musgraves' merch during the concert.

Musgraves, whose album "Golden Hour" won the Album of the Year award at the 2019 Grammys, has been sure to show lots of love for her gal pal. When Hadid appeared in full country glam on the cover of Vogue Czechoslovakia in April, Musgraves immediately praised the model's honky-tonk bonafides.

"Yeehaw couture queen," Musgraves commented on Hadid's Instagram post revealing the cover shoot.

Musgraves, who won a CMA Award for best music video before the ceremony even began, sparkled on the red carpet in a glittering, feather-clad yellow dress.

Hadid, meanwhile, posted with her date in a sleeveless white turtleneck gown.
