Julie Edwards running for MCCC trustee

Monroe resident Julie Edwards, a Monroe County Community College alum who currently works as an executive director in the healthcare field, has announced her candidacy for the MCCC Board of Trustees.

"This next step just made sense to me," Edwards said in a statement she posted to her social media accounts. "I wholeheartedly believe in MCCC, its purpose and vision, and what MCCC can do for students and our county. With higher education experience and a well-established relationship with MCCC, I know I'm the right person for the job!"

Edwards earned an associate's degree from MCCC in 2006 before continuing her education with Siena Heights University at MCCC, where she earned a bachelor's degree in business administration, and a master's degree in healthcare leadership. Since 2010, she has served on the MCCC Alumni Association Board of Directors. From 2010-2019, she worked on the MCCC Campus for SHU in multiple capacities, most notably as its on-campus director of recruiting for the Resident Nurse-Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN) program.

"I've continued to participate in alumni association events and have served on the alumni board for more than 12 years," Edwards said. "I've also served as a member of the MCCC Foundation Board as well. I was also the volunteer coordinator for the initial MCCC Mileage Campaign. Over the last 18 years, I've volunteered consistently for a number of events and fundraising."
