JSO: Jacksonville woman arrested in poisoning case after declaring 'He wouldn't shut up'

A 61-year-old man was hospitalized for treatment from poisoning after he advised his lemonade "did taste weird," the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

A 54-year-old woman who had been his girlfriend for about nine years was arrested on a charge of poisoning food or water with intent to kill or injure after she said "he wouldn't shut the f--- up," the arrest report said

Alvis Lorraine Parrish of Susie Street remain jailed Wednesday on $50,000 bail, according to jail records.

Officers and paramedics were called to the home about 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 7 after a report that someone had been poisoned, the arrest report said. When they arrived, a woman on the porch began screaming at them.

"I gave him just enough to shut him up and called y'all so he wouldn't die," the report said, noting she appeared intoxicated. It did not indicate what the victim had been saying that irritated her.

After the woman was handcuffed, she told officers to do whatever they wanted but threatened to do something more to the victim "if you don't take me," the report said.

The victim was extremely lethargic when officers and paramedics went to help him, saying he did not know why he felt so tired, the report said. When asked if someone had given him a certain medication used to treat mental conditions such as schizophrenia or depression, he said he did not know why he would have been given that.

When he was unable to fill out domestic-battery paperwork due to being so tired, he was taken to an emergency room. Officers also confiscated the lemonade, narcotics and notes written by Parrish, the report said.

Duval County court records show at least three disorderly intoxication arrests for Parrish.
