Joe Buck Fired Back at James Holzhauer Over His 'Jeopardy!' Shade

Listen, I know you might hate Joe Buck, the FOX Sports commentator who showed up as one of Jeopardy!'s guest hosts this August. I know you might hate Joe Buck because everybody has told you that you should hate Joe Buck. The guy's everywhere! I know. I watch sports, too, and also have been told that I should hate Joe Buck.

But if your distaste inspires you to come for the man, prepare to get Bucked.

James Holzhauer, former Jeopardy! champion, found out the hard way this Thursday. In early August, Holzhauer tweeted, “Jeopardy says whoever hosts full time will have to quit their other job, so I’m crossing my fingers it’s Joe Buck.” Cool, man. Shot taken. The thing is, Buck is used to any random assortment of barbs and jabs and profanities being lobbed his way from people like Holzhauer, who, you know, also think it's cool to pick on a random sports commentator. On the Sports Illustrated Media Podcast with Jimmy Traina, Buck fired back.

“I wouldn’t know James Holzhauer if he was sitting here in my room,” Buck said. “I don’t know much about him. I know about his success on the show, but I don’t know what kind of a guy he is. I have no idea. I couldn’t care less. I’m at the point now where I am so over reacting to Twitter.”

Do I love Joe Buck now? I love Joe Buck now. Sure, his stint on Jeopardy! inspired a multitude of reactions from its passionate fandom, but you have to give credit to the man for standing up for himself. He's been doing that for years, now, and guess what? He'll still be popping on your TV with Troy Aikman every Sunday this fall. And Holzhauer is...? Well, I don't know. Maybe Joey B. is right.

“I don’t know who he roots for. I don’t know where he’s from,” Buck said. “I don’t know what his favorite team is. I have no idea. So that’s how I took it and kind of did a little eye roll and moved on to the next three-year-old’s diaper I had to change. That kind of stuff is becoming less relevant in my life.”

Well, it certainly feels like Buck changed Holzhauer's diaper yesterday. Anyway. Be a contrarian this NFL season and try to watch a FOX broadcast without making a Joe Buck joke after two beers.
