Jimmies stand tall defensively in 2-0 win at Doane

Sep. 25—CRETE, Neb. — The University of Jamestown set a season high for shots on goal with 12 and continued their hot start to the season. The Jimmies only needed two of those shots though as they got a 2-0 win at Doane University on Saturday, Sept. 24.

The Jimmies (5-4-1, 4-0) got their first shot with 28:57 to go in the opening half when Eve Hoppe took a shot from distance that was easily saved by the Tigers goalie Hannah Drolshagen. The Jimmies had a chance to break through late in the first half as Emersen Kimball took a shot that clanked off the post. The Jimmies would break the deadlock with just under three minutes to go in the first half when Kimball sent a long ball up ahead to Kassandra Noguera who sent the ball over the head of the goalie and made it 1-0 Jimmies.

The Tigers (4-3-2, 1-1-1) had a chance to tie it up when they won a free kick from 30-yards out that was sent in by Abbie Hedgecock and rang the crossbar but stayed out. The Jimmies would double their lead with 30:57 to go in the game when they played the advantage and deked past her defender for some space from the top of the box and sent a missile into the far corner to make it 2-0. After the goal, the Jimmies would get two shots in quick succession but both would be calmly saved by Drolshagen.

The Jimmies' defense locked up holding the Tigers to only two shots in the second half and none over the last 41 minutes of the game.

The Jimmies are back in action at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, when they host Northwestern.
