Running back Michael Carter returned to practice Wednesday as the Jets begin preparation for Sunday’s rematch with the Buffalo Bills.

In fact, Carter has no issues with his ankle and was not even on the injury report. He is good to go for Sunday. But don’t worry about Zonovan Knight, according to Robert Saleh. “He’s not going anywhere,” he said.

“Bam, what he’s shown is that he’s got juice, like we talked about,” Saleh said about Knight. “I think his GPS hit 4.39 on that long run on the sideline — just pure gas. This time of year where legs get heavy and you got a guy who can clock that on the GPS, it’s going to show differently, which I think it does. He runs with a physical mindset. He’s hungry. He’s young. He runs violently. When he turns a corner and sticks his foot in the ground, it’s special.”

The Jets did have a minor flu bug going around the team today, as four players — Micheal Clemons, Corey Davis, George Fant and DJ Reed — did not practice Wednesday. Saleh is hoping they can all return Thursday.

Duane Brown (limited, shoulder) is going through his normal routine. Lamarcus Joyner was listed as limited with a hip injury, but Saleh said it was more of a vet day for him. Ashtyn Davis also returned to practice after missing Week 13 against the Vikings with a hamstring injury.

As noted earlier in the day, offensive tackle Max Mitchell is out for the season after being placed on the non-football injury list. Saleh wouldn’t go into specifics on that. “I’m not going to get into specifics right now because there’s a lot of things that we’re trying to sort out, and for him, too.”

The Jets filled the hole by calling up Laurent Duvernay-Tardif to the active roster. George Fant will be the starting right tackle and Mike Remmers will be the swing tackle.
