The New York Jets are holding their breath over the health of their franchise quarterback, Zach Wilson. During Friday night’s preseason win over the Eagles, Wilson went down with a non-contact knee injury and was forced to leave the game in the first quarter.

Wilson cut awkwardly after scrambling, going down on the field before limping off and heading to the locker room.

Robert Saleh didn’t speculate on the severity of the injury when speaking to reporters after the game, saying the team is awaiting MRI results on Saturday. He did say that he was told the ACL is believed to be intact, which is good news. But the worry is Wilson injured his PCL.

Connor Hughes of SNY reported after the game that he has heard Wilson will miss 2-3 weeks in a best-case scenario and 4-6 weeks if it’s the worst-case. The Jets don’t believe it’s a season-ending injury, which is encouraging.

Still, with less than a month until Week 1, the Jets are in danger of being without Wilson to start the season.

If Wilson misses significant time, it would be Joe Flacco stepping in at quarterback. The Jets face all four AFC North teams in the first four weeks of the season, so it’s possible Flacco would take on those opponents if Wilson is out.
