Jennifer Lopez Paired a Lace-Up Skirt and Sexiest Turtleneck at the MTV VMAs

Jennifer Lopez surprised fans when she walked out onto the MTV Video Music Awards stage to present Olivia Rodrigo with a Moonperson trophy for Song Of The Year — but the shock of seeing J.Lo come out to pull this year's breakout star into her arms was tempered by her very MTV outfit. Lopez's ensemble included a lace-up skirt with two strings holding up panels of super-sparkly embellished fabric, the openings showing plenty of skin as they went up her legs.

And if the show-stopping skirt didn't display enough, she wore it with a black turtleneck top, which was sliced down the front and laced up the middle, just like her skirt. Lopez finished the look with her signature wavy hair and smoky makeup.

"Happy 40th birthday, MTV!" she said on stage, which happened to be at the Barclays Center in New York City. "Tonight is your party and I gotta tell you, tonight it feels so good to be here in my hometown for the VMAs."

Lopez's first VMAs visit was back in 1998 and since then, she's garnered a cabinet full of her own Moonpeople, including the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award in 2018.

Lopez's unexpected appearance comes after an epic trip to Venice, which included making her old-is-new-again relationship with Ben Affleck red carpet official after months of PDA everywhere from Malibu to Italy.
