The Boston Celtics might have lost their home game against the Miami Heat 120-116 on Thursday, but if anyone on the Celtics’ roster is blameless in that fact, it was star wing Jaylen Brown. The Georgia native almost single-handedly willed the Celtics to a win, forcing overtime with a clutch last-second shot.

Brown put up a season-high 37 points along with 14 rebounds (not far from a career-high as well), and 5 assists with 5 turnovers and just 2 personal fouls, shooting 12-of-23 from the field, 5-of-11 from beyond the arc, and anear-perfect 8-of-9 from the charity stripe in the loss.

It might not have been enough to get Boston over the hump in the end against a determined Miami ball club, but it did underscore that Brown’s ascension to the 10th spot in this year’s MVP race is no anomaly.
