Jason Momoa takes on his most emotional role yet: 'Every episode, I'm sobbing'

Jason Momoa moved to tears? Now, that’s something you don’t expect to hear from an actor who has played sword-swinging action heroes like Conan the Barbarian and Khal Drogo. But the star of the new Apple TV+ series, “See,” tells Yahoo Entertainment that this role is easily his most emotional to date. “I've never cried too much in my career, so this, I felt like every episode I'm sobbing about something,” Momoa says.

The actor, who’s had unforgettable roles as Aquaman and Drogo in Game of Thrones, explores new depths as blind tribal leader Baba Voss in “See.” “I never went into this territory before,” he says. “Drogo was a phenomenal character, but I never even went into battle, definitely didn't go through childbirth and then try to keep my family together.”

Momoa leads a band of sightless warriors in the post-apocalyptic drama where everyone is blind — except for his newborn twins. Playing a father, a first for the actor, came naturally. Momoa has two children with wife Lisa Bonet: Lola, 12, and 10-year-old son, Nakoa-Wolf. He’s also a stepdad to actress Zoë Kravitz, who’s joining “The Batman” movie as Catwoman. (Aquaman and Catwoman are both part of the DC Comics universe.) “I have that capacity in my heart where it's opened up by having children,” he says. “I can have that vulnerability and sensitive moments.”

While the Drogo and Baba Voss comparisons will naturally come to mind, Momoa assures fans this isn’t “Game of Thrones.” “I don’t want to compare it at all,” he tells Yahoo Entertainment. “It's two totally different worlds. The only similarity is that I'm in both — that's it.”

Momoa makes his debut in “See” Nov. 1.
