Jason Aldean rips Gavin Newsom over school vaccine mandate

·1 min read

Country music star Jason Aldean criticized California Gov. Gavin Newsom for his order mandating students across the state receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Students will be required to be vaccinated if they want to attend in-person schooling the semester after the Food and Drug Administration issues full approval for the K-6 and 7-12 grade spans, respectively, according to the mandate.

"So let me get this straight! It is no longer our decisions as parents (or free Americans) to make decisions about our kids, Gavin Newsom makes those decisions for us now??" Aldean asked in a post on Instagram. "You gotta be kidding me!"

California's mandate for students is the first of its kind in the nation.

"We are all exhausted by this pandemic. We are all exhausted by this. And that is the purpose of this," Newsom said. "We hope this encourages folks to get vaccinated."

Aldean disagreed with the governor's sentiment.
