Jasmin Wilridge, ex-Assumption and UL women’s basketball player, becomes coach at her old high school
Assumption has named its former star girls basketball player Jasmin Wilridge as the new coach.
Wilridge, who graduated from Assumption in 2012 and played at t UL from 2012-16, replaces Amy Blanchard, who resigned after a 9-17 season.
“I always wanted to be a head coach at my alma mater,” Wilridge said Thursday. “When the opportunity was presented, I believe it was a great choice to continue to give back to the program. It’s always a good feeling to be home where I once played.”

Wilridge was one of Assumption’s best players in program history. She led the Lady Mustangs to the Class 4A state regionals with a 18.6 points per game average in 2012. She is a former all-state selection and all-district MVP.
After her college career ended, Wilridge has worked as an assistant coach at Thibodaux and Assumption in recent seasons.
The Lady Mustangs qualified for the playoffs this season, but lost to Northside 74-40 in the Class 4A first round.
“My goals at Assumption are to win district and advance further into playoffs,” Wilridge said. “I will continue to enhance the strong family tradition within the program and implement a style of basketball that I’ve always visioned when I became a head basketball coach.
“I want to thank Assumption high for this opportunity but I especially want to thank my mentors and family for supporting me thus far.”
