Japanese discount store Daiso to open its first location in Manhattan

The popular Japanese discount chain Daiso will be opening its first Manhattan location in July.

New York City currently has two other Daiso locations in other boroughs, with one that recently opened in February in Brooklyn and the other in Queens.

Daiso is often referred to as a dollar store for its 100-yen price on many items and is well known for its wide range of affordable products, including stationary, snacks, home supplies, skincare, crafting tools and other mostly Japanese imports.

The Manhattan store is set to be larger than the Brooklyn location at 4,800 square feet and will feature various products at an average price of $1.99. It will be located in the Midtown East neighborhood at 220 East 57th St.
