The news was initially reported by Mark Berman of Houston’s Fox 26.
The Dynamo, which were founded in late 2005, have two MLS Cup titles (2006 and 2007). While they didn’t qualify for the playoffs in 2018, they did win the U.S. Open Cup. The Dash, Houston’s women’s soccer team, has been around since 2014 and hasn’t had the success that the Dynamo have. But 2018 was their best season yet, as they finished 9-10 and with 32 points, both high watermarks for the franchise.
Harden’s ready to bring his MVP energy to Houston soccer, though the video Harden tweeted on Thursday makes it seem like he’s going to be joining them on the field. But seriously, who would object to that?

Harden’s not the only famous athlete in this ownership group. Legendary boxer Oscar De La Hoya also has a controlling interest, which he purchased through his company Golden Boy Enterprises in 2008.
