Jalen Ramsey and Derwin James were teammates at Florida State, making up one of the best secondaries in the nation. They’re once again playing in the same city in the NFL, albeit for different teams.

On Wednesday, James joined Ramsey as one of the richest defensive backs in the league, agreeing to a four-year deal worth $76.4 million with the Chargers. Ramsey is thrilled for his former FSU teammate, and he says dinner is on Derwin now.

As happy as Ramsey is for James, he is disappointed that they won’t be teammates again anytime soon. With James signed for another four years, the dream of bringing him to the Rams is now dead.

Ramsey and James started the Safety Corner Foundation together, a charitable organization where they help the community and give back. Recently, they both invested in the National Cycling League, which is launching in 2023.

So even though they aren’t teammates on the field, they still have close ties off it.
