FRANK SCHWAB: The Jacksonville Jaguars have thrown in the towel on running back Leonard Fournette, cutting a former top five pick. It's a little bit surprising considering the season is right around the corner. But the Jaguars could not get any trade partners for Fournette, who just hasn't played up to what we thought you would be coming out of LSU.

For the Jaguars, they don't really have a great replacement for him. Ryquell Armstead is probably next in line, but he's not exciting to anybody. It's just an admission that the Jaguars knew Fournette wasn't their guy. They tried to get rid of them all offseason, couldn't do it, and they just want to move on without him.

For Fournette, it's going to be an interesting market. As I said before, there was no trade partner for him. Nobody's excited to get this guy. Maybe a team looking for depth could add him, somebody like the Chargers, who needs a change of pace back, a two-down guy in between tackles. That's not what we thought Leonard Fournette was going to be coming out of college, but he just hasn't been an explosive player.

It could take some time. Maybe an injury or two happens, and he finds a new home. But I don't think there's going to be some rush for Leonard Fournette, who has been very disappointing as an NFL player. And the Jaguars admitted that mistake on Monday.
