Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence returns from leg injury in Week 13

Jacksonville Jaguars second-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence was injured on the last play of the first half of a Week 13 game against the Detroit Lions.

Lawrence, 23, was twisted down on a sack and stayed down on the field as time ran out in the second quarter. After an extended period, Lawrence was able to stand and walk off the field on his own.

After halftime, Lawrence exited the tunnel and jogged back to the sideline where he warmed up and continued playing in the second half.

While the Jaguars went to halftime trailing 23-6 against the Lions, Lawrence was playing well Sunday with 124 passing yards on nine completions.

Lawrence struggled in the month of October, but was playing some of the best football of his career in the weeks leading up to Sunday. In three games in November, Lawrence threw six touchdown passes with zero interceptions, and completed 76.9 percent of his passes.

Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback C.J. Beathard is the Jaguars’ backup quarterback. He started 12 games in four years with the 49ers, but has only thrown two passes in his two seasons with the Jaguars. Beathard warmed up in the second half, but didn’t play until the final minutes of the blowout loss.
