Jaguars trying to lean into Minshew Mania to sell more tickets

The Jacksonville Jaguars have gotten off to a slow start attendance-wise, and they’re hoping that they can lean into Minshew Mania to reinvigorate the fan base.

The Jaguars are offering a Minshew Mini Pack for their next two home games, on Oct. 13 against the New Orleans Saints and on Oct. 27 against the New York Jets. Fans that buy tickets through Ticketmaster will also get gear that matches the signature look of quarterback-turned-folk hero Gardner Minshew II: a bandana and mustache.

Tickets for the first game range from $49 to $600, and the latter are going for for $41 to $503. Fans will also get field access with those tickets.

Since starting quarterback Nick Foles went down with a broken clavicle while throwing a touchdown pass in Week 1, Minshew has impressed and then some. He looks just as good as he did in his senior season at Washington State, completing a high percent of his passes without turning it over.

Although the Jags dropped Minshew's first start, he's since led them past the Tennessee Titans and Denver Broncos into a four-way tie atop the AFC South.

The Jaguars could use the extra sale in tickets. Although it’s only been two games, they rank 28th in the league with 58,385 fans per home game. That's a sharp drop-off from last year, when they ranked 17th with an average of 66,674 tickets sold.

Of course, if a fake mustache and bandana aren’t enough for the biggest Gardner Groupie, merchandise for the quarterback is blowing up. Or you go with his red suit-unbuttoned metallic shirt combination he wore off the team plane.
