But manager Luis Rojas said before Friday night's game that the team would wait to see how deGrom feels on Saturday before penciling him in for Sunday's start at Citi Field against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
But deGrom -- after completing his side session -- was fielding grounders at shortstop (and making leaping grabs) a few hours before Friday's game, so all signs seem to point toward him starting Sunday.
DeGrom last started on April 28 against the Boston Red Sox at Citi Field, so he will be on 10 days rest if he starts Sunday as expected.
As far as Saturday's starter, Rojas would still not commit to Joey Lucchesi, saying the starter for Saturday remains up in the air.
If the Mets don't turn to Lucchesi, options to start Saturday's game include Jacob Barnes and Miguel Castro.
