Jackson County at 9,904 cases

Apr. 17—Local public health officials recorded 58 new coronavirus cases in Jackson County Saturday, bringing the local tally of cases to 9,904.

The Jackson County cases were among 888 reported Saturday across the state, according to the Oregon Health Authority.

Broken down by county, the new cases included 161 in Multnomah, 103 in Washington, 96 in Clackamas, 94 in Deschutes, 79 in Marion, 75 in Lane, 45 in Klamath, 37 in Linn, 17 in Yamhill, 16 in Douglas, 13 in Josephine, 12 in Polk, 15 in Umatilla, 13 in Josephine, 10 in Crook, eight in Clatsop, seven in Benton and Columbia, six in Baker and Jefferson, five in Lincoln, four in Tillamook, three in Wasco, two in Curry and Malheur counties and one case each in the counties of Gilliam, Harney and Morrow.

State health officials recorded three COVID-19 related deaths Saturday: those of a 66-year-old Multnomah County man, a 68-year-old Multomah County man and a 58-year-old Yamhill County man. Health officials have confirmed that the 58-year-old man had underlying conditions that contributed to that death, and health officials are still determining the presence of underlying conditions in the two latest Multnomah County fatalities.

There were 27 COVID-positive patients in Southern Oregon hospitals as of Saturday, according to Oregon Health Authority data for the hospital region comprised of hospitals in Jackson and Josephine counties. The number is a decrease by five patients from the month's record of 32 coronavirus patients recorded Tuesday.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 666 Jackson County residents hospitalized since the start of the pandemic, according to Jackson County Public Health data.
