University of Iowa men’s basketball signee Josh Dix suffered a broken tibia and broken fibula during Friday's game between Council Bluffs Lincoln and Le Mars.

Dix's father, Nate, told the Des Moines Register on Saturday of his son's injuries and that he was in surgery Saturday morning for the leg fractures.

Dix's Lincoln team led Le Mars 52-33 with 1:45 left to play when Dix landed "awkwardly," according to KLEM Sports’ Daniel Ver Steeg. He said the game was called after Dix was attended to for several minutes and Dix was escorted out of the gym on a stretcher.

The broken tibia/fibula is the same injury NBA star Paul George suffered during a USA Basketball exhibition in 2014. George missed most of the 2014-15 season but made a full recovery and has been an All-Star selection in five of the past six seasons.
