In the comedy/drama television series, Jay plays Lawrence Walker, the longtime boyfriend of creator Issa Rae's character.

Jay says that after meeting the Insecure fan, she ended up giving him a whack because she was upset with something Lawrence had done during Season 3.

"Good morning to everyone except for the lady that slapped me in the face at the airport because she got mad at Lawrence for something he did in season 3," Jay wrote on Twitter.

Jay's confession ended up getting mixed reactions from fans, from those who thought he should have called the police to those who suggested he take it as a compliment about his acting skills.

"I don’t condone her actions, but I do understand," one fan wrote, to which Jay responded with laughing emojis.

While Jay didn't provide any further details, in sounds like he can look back at the incident in a lighthearted way.
