The IndyCar Series wraps up an eventful weekend of racing with the second annual Big Machine Music City Grand Prix in the streets of Nashville.

Team Penske's Scott McLaughlin is on the pole for Sunday's race, which lasts 80 laps.

Hometown favorite Josef Newgarden starts 6th.

UPDATE: The race will not begin at 2:30 p.m. CT, as thunderstorms in the area initiated a lightning hold. The hold was lifted at 2:33 p.m.

Lap 80: Dixon holds off a final charge from McLaughlin to win the Music City Grand Prix!

Lap 78: GREEN! Scott Dixon leads Scott McLaughlin. They've backed up behind the leader, with Herta and Rossi inside the top 5!

Lap 75: RESTART! CAUTION! RED FLAG! Grosjean is forced into the wall by an incoming Josef Newgarden into turn 9. Grosjean is done for the day. Scott Dixon still leads Scott McLaughlin. How is Alexander Rossi is 5th?

Lap 72: CAUTION! Jimmie Johnson has spun and it looks like the front suspension is broken. At the end of the bridge, heading toward downtown and turn 4. Big contact

Lap 70: Scott Dixon clears the field in the restart, with Lundgaard settled into second. McLaughlin propels himself to 3rd, with Palou in 4th. Herta lost several spots on the restart.

Lap 68: Newgarden pits for tires from the lead. Scott Dixon will lead Lundgaard, Alex Palou and Colton Herta. Pole sitter Scott McLaughlin sits 5th.

Lap 65: Caution! Kyle Kirkwood and David Malukas crash into the turn 9 barrier after colliding into the inside wall while being inside the top 10. Tough result for the two rookies. Both out of their cars.

Lap 64: Christian Lundgaard is within a second of Scott Dixon for 2nd. Josef Newgarden's lead is 3.7 seconds. Can he last 42 laps on these tires?

Lap 63: Good catch by the NBC cameras, showing Palou clipping his left front wing while passing Power in Lap 58.

Lap 60: Colton Herta doing a Marcus Ericsson 2.0? He goes to 5th and is tracking behind Palou. Newgarden leads Dixon and Christian Lundgaard.

Lap 58: Kyle Kirkwood is penalized for jumping the start. Palou passes Power over the bridge for 4th. Newgarden's lead is 1 second.

Lap 57: Josef Newgarden cycles to the lead and will clear Scott Dixon, Christian Lundgaard, Will Power and Palou, who was the leader but was caught out during green flag stops before the caution.

Lap 53: CAUTION! Graham Rahal and Rinus VeeKay into the barrier in turn 4. Jimmie Johnson just misses the crash.

Lap 48: Colton Herta was the first car to have issues today. He's back on the lead lap, is now 10th and pushing for more.

Lap 45: McLaughlin ahead of Pagenaud for 2nd. Palou has 1.4 second lead.

Lap 41: Palou locks it up but holds onto the lead at the restart. But they are backed up behind him. Pagenaud 2nd, with McLaughlin to 3rd.

Lap 34: Another multi-accident sequence and a fourth caution. Callum Ilott and Alexander Rossi get collected into a runoff area near turn 9, while Devlin DeFrancesco and Takuma Sato are in the wall at turn 10. The former two will continue on, while the latter two have a lot of damage.

Lap 33: Long caution period. Let's re-focus: Alex Palou leads Simon Pagenaud, David Malukas, Scott McLaughlin and Jimmie Johnson to the green.

Lap 28: Rahal hits the wall on the bridge but makes it to pit road. He gets a new wing and new tires, but stops again just off pit road. O'Ward is out.

Lap 27: Wow. Graham Rahal runs into Pato O'Ward and both stall out behind Will Power. Rahal's front wing is dragging under the front end. Behind them, a couple cars get on the brakes and get some damage. A lot going on.

Helio Castroneves, Callum Ilott, Dalton Kellett, Simona De Silvestro among those with contact in the back end of that. Scott Dixon may have gotten some damage too.

Lap 26: Palou leads at the restart, with Simon Pagenaud passing Jimmie Johnson for 2nd. Scott McLaughlin, who has led the first 23 laps, is 5th.

Lap 24: Palou will cycle into the lead after most of the leaders pit during the caution.

Lap 22: Alex Palou pits from 3rd. Helio Castroneves has spun in turn 3 and has stalled, bringing out the second caution of the day.

Lap 16: McLaughlin is 1.4 seconds ahead of Grosjean, with stops coming within the next 10 laps or so for those who have not yet pitted.

Lap 11: McLaughlin continues to lead after the restart.

Lap 8: Alexander Rossi, who had already stopped on strategy, gets turned around at turn 10 and stalls out. First caution of the day. Scott McLaughlin leads Romain Grosjean, Alex Palou, Christian Lundgaard and Pato O'Ward.

Lap 3: Colton Herta is into the wall in turn 4, trying to wedge himself by Dalton Kellett. Herta's front wing is all torn up.
