Indiana men's soccer is jumping into the deep end for its first game of the 2022 season.
The Hoosiers will hit the road to take on reigning national champion Clemson on Friday, August 26 at 7 p.m. at historic Riggs Field on the Tigers' campus in South Carolina. Both programs announced the contest on Thursday.
This match opens IU's 50th season in program history.
The Hoosiers and Tigers last met in 2012, when IU won 3-0 in Bloomington. Indiana went on to win the national championship that season. Indiana leads the all-time series against Clemson, with a 6-4-1 record. The Tigers haven't defeated the Hoosiers since 1987.
Clemson defeated Washington, 2-0, in the College Cup Final on December 12, 2021 to capture its third national championship. Washington knocked out the Hoosiers in the third round of the NCAA Tournament in a 3-2 victory in extra time.
The rest of Indiana's schedule will be released at a later date. Season tickets go on sale on Wednesday, June 1.
