I'm a Leggings Snob, and I'm Seriously Impressed By Everlane's New 'Buttery Soft' Pair

As an avid runner and workout class enthusiast, I have high standards for all of my exercise gear, especially leggings. Couple that with the fact that I write about products for a living, and I have no problem admitting: I'm a bit of a leggings snob. That's why I was genuinely surprised by how much I liked Everlane's new Perform 24/7 Legging (Buy It, $68, everlane.com).

The brand is best known for its stylish basics — think T-shirts, blazers, sweaters, and jeans — that are more suited for a classic capsule wardrobe than a drawer full of workout clothes. However, when Everlane offered to send me a pair of its new and improved leggings, I was curious to see how they'd hold up in a sweat session. Unlike the original leggings the brand dropped two years ago, these are made with 69 percent recycled nylon and 31 percent spandex, giving them a more compressive fit and a softer feel inside and out. They're also moisture-wicking and more opaque than Everlane's first take. So if you tried the OG style and found them to be a bit see-through, you won't have the same problem with these. Trust me, I've worn them on long outdoor runs and haven't ended up with a sweat-stained crotch even once — though I can only speak to the black color. (BTW, here are some of the best black leggings on Amazon, according to reviews.)

I found the fit to be true to size, and I was pleased with how well the high waistband stayed in place — minimal pulling and tugging necessary. The leggings also have an interior front pocket that's big enough to hold cards and keys. Best of all, you can throw them in the washer and dryer without much thought (just use the low tumble dry setting).

The new leggings already have a handful of five-star ratings from Everlane shoppers who agree that they're the real deal.

"They are buttery soft and [have] the perfect amount of stretch," said one reviewer. "They do not fall off or slip down!" Another claimed that they are "every bit as good as Lulu…even better actually," because of their lower price and recycled materials.

Supportive and sweat-wicking enough for a serious workout while still being sleek and comfortable enough for lounging and working from home, these leggings are truly versatile. After testing them out for a few weeks, I've started reaching for them over some of my usual favorites from brands like Outdoor Voices and Sweaty Betty (yes, really!). You can order a pair for $68 in sizes XXS to 3XL in your choice of six colors.
