Identity of Janesville man who died in crash released

Aug. 2—MADISON — A Janesville man was the victim of a fatal traffic crash in the town of Fulton, the Rock County Medical Examiner's Department announced Monday.

Ricky A. Gilson, 51, of Janesville, was pronounced dead at a hospital after the two-vehicle crash that was reported about 6:40 p.m. Saturday near Highway 51 and Arrowhead Shores Road, according to a news release.

Preliminary autopsy results confirmed Gilson died from injuries sustained in the crash. More testing is underway. The death remains under investigation.

Authorities also said an Indianford woman who was driving the car that collided with Gilson's and three of her passengers were injured in the crash.

The Rock County Sheriff's Office reported Gilson was traveling northbound in his vehicle when it struck an SUV traveling southbound. The crash ejected Gilson from his vehicle.

The woman driving the SUV was hospitalized with injuries and remained in critical condition as of late Saturday. Three of her passengers were treated for minor injuries.

The man was taken to University Hospital, Madison, where he was pronounced dead, the sheriff's office said.
