Ibero to move offices to St. Michael's Church campus

The Ibero-American Action League announced last week that the agency will move its East Main Street office to the campus of St. Michael's Church in Rochester.

The dual language agency's administrative office, currently located at 817 E. Main St. near the Auditorium Theater, is expected to make the full move to office space at the rear of the North Clinton Avenue church by January. The space, at 124 Evergreen St., was the former convent at the church.

"Over the last 53 years, Ibero has advocated and invested resources in this neighborhood," said Angelica Perez-Delagado, Ibero's president and CEO. "This move brings the leadership team 'home,' strengthens connections to the Clinton Avenue community, enhances projects such as the International Plaza and anchors our beloved St. Michael's Church."

"Our Clinton Avenue neighborhood has seen so much violence and poverty, yet it is so full of life and hope," said Father Daniel Ruiz, pastor of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, which is part of St. Michael's Church.

Miguel Meléndez, City Council President and Ibero's chief community engagement officer, said that pairing an anchor like Ibero with an iconic part of the community like St. Michael's "will provide much needed strength and hope."
