  • Sarasota Orchestra "Discoveries Concert" that was scheduled for this Saturday, October 1 has been canceled

  • Music Compound's annual Beer, Bands & BBQ event, which was set to take place Oct. 1 at Sarasota Farm Bureau, has been postponed to Oct. 22 due to concerns about "the Hurricane Ian aftermath — including the potential condition of the event site."

  • Sarasota Police Department has canceled its Go Gold Blood Drive on Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

  • Jerry Seinfeld’s sold-out performances scheduled for Friday night at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall have been rescheduled for 7 and 9:30 p.m. Jan. 13.

Sarasota-Bradenton stores closing due to Hurricane Ian

  • Publix grocery stores on the west coast of Florida will close at 6 p.m. Tuesday and will stay closed until 7 a.m. Friday

  • Target stories in the Sarasota area will close at 6 p.m. Tuesday

  • Morton’s Gourmet Market in Sarasota and Morton’s Siesta Market will close at 5 p.m. Tuesday

  • Walmart stories in the Sarasota-Bradenton region and south closed by mid-afternoon Tuesday

  • All Pollo Tropical restaurants in Southwest Florida will close at 5 p.m. Tuesday and reopen once it is deemed safe after the storm.
