Hundreds stopped at Oktoberfest after riding e-scooters drunk
Hundreds of people have been caught at Oktoberfest beer festival for riding their electric scooters while drunk.
414 people were stopped riding e-scooters by police while under the influence at the 16-day beer festival in Munich.
A total of 254 of those caught lost their driving licenses as a result, according to German police.
Other Oktoberfest maniacs received a suspended license penalty,
In 32 of these cases, police patrols intervened to prevent drunk driving.
This is a new problem for the event as Germany has only legalised e-scooters in June.
Electric scooters are categorised as motorised vehicles meaning that drink-driving laws apply.
Although, many at the festival are likely to have had their judgement impaired.
To tackle the problem, people were prevented from logging out of the scooter hire app while on site, and clusters of abandoned scooters were removed each night from around the city.
Meanwhile at Weymouth Oktoberfest in the UK, vendors sold out of beer three-and-a-half hours before the festival was due to end.

Furious beer-lovers took to Twitter to complain with one claiming it was the ‘worst beer festival’ ever and another saying organisers "couldn't organise a p***-up at beer festival".
Attendees who paid £11.50 for entry – were offered refunds or cider.
Colin Bell wrote on social media: ‘I couldn’t help but agree with another punter who said ‘CAMRA couldn’t organise a p*ss up in a beer festival!’’
The Oktoberfest event was attended by 900 people who drank 4,000 pints of beer and cider over two days.
