Security footage released from a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station in Oakland, Calif., shows a brave transit employee pulling a drunk man out of the path of an oncoming train.
The incident occurred on Nov. 3 following a Raiders football game. The HuffPost video above shows an intoxicated man stumbling through the packed platform, only to misstep and fall off the edge and onto the tracks.
John O'Connor, the BART transportation supervisor who was on the scene, can be seen rushing toward the man and pulling him back onto the platform mere seconds before the incoming train pulled into the station.
"I just looked and was like, he's not going to make it," O'Connor told HuffPost. "So, I've got to do something. There wasn't a lot of time to think — I mean, in my mind, it all went down in slow motion."
Other station crew members were preoccupied with the larger-than-usual crowds following the Raiders game.
"I couldn't watch it happen."
BART tweeted about the incident on Monday, hailing O'Connor as a "humble hero" who has worked with the agency for 20 years.
"I'd like to think that anyone else standing there would have done the same thing," O'Connor said.
